PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Fish Co. Bar and Grill announced Saturday that they will be closing their doors until further notice.

In a Facebook post, the company shared that they were “served by a constable without any warning or opportunity to hear the violations or defend the business.”

According to the Rhode Island Department of Health, Fish Co. is facing multiple violations which took place during a spot check on October 3.

The Rhode Island Department of Health says an inspector observed at least six employees who were not wearing a face covering, or wearing them improperly.  The establishment did not meet social physical distancing, as the inspector says a high column of patrons were seen “mingling and congregating in the indoors and outdoors areas of the establishment”.

A document from the Department of Health continues to the next violation, “The inspector conducted the inspection at 11:15 p.m. and observed that there were numerous patrons still sitting and standing at the bars. The inspector concluded, therefore, that the bar remained accessible to customers after 11:00 p.m.”

The document goes on to state a violation of Section 7.4.2(A)(3) of the Safe Regulations, which prohibits service to a standing customer.  The inspector says that they observed “numerous” patrons standing and being served at the bar area.

Lastly, the inspector says that they observed approximately ten patrons sitting at the bar who were not separated by either six feet or separated by a physical barrier.

The Rhode Island Department of Health ordered the restaurant to immediately close until they fulfill protocol requirements set forth by the state.
