SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WLNE) – A Charlestown woman was seriously injured in a highway crash Monday in South Kingstown.

South Kingstown Police responded to Commodore Perry Highway just north of Green Hill Beach Road Monday afternoon for reports of a single-vehicle crash.

Officers on scene located a 2013 Hyundai Sonata that had left the lane of travel and struck a guardrail, causing its operator, identified as Lauren Pandora, 25, of Charlestown, to become trapped in the vehicle.

Police said it took first responders approximately 40 minutes to free Pandora from the vehicle, after which she was transported to RI Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
