Five-time Grammy winners to play in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — It will be an historic night at The Vets Wednesday night. Music legends, and five-time Grammy Award winning, The Blind Boys of Alabama will be making their anticipated return to Rhode Island.

“I’ll tell you what, they’re (fans) going to have a wonderful time. It’s going to be a great experience, because you’re going to have two cultures and just one beat,” vocalist Ricky McKinnie told ABC 6 News.

The show is called, “From Bamako to Birmingham,” and it will feature The Blind Boys of Alabama and Grammy nominated duo, Amadou and Mariam.

McKinnie and the other four members of the group have been making music together since 1939, collaborating with so many huge acts, including Prince, Bryan Adams and Bonnie Raitt.

Tickets are still available for Wednesday night’s show at The Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium. Show time is at 7:30 p.m.
