Middletown home destroyed after fire breaks out

Flames ripped through a Middletown home on Sunset Hill Street just after 3 p.m. while the residents were still inside. Fortunately they were able to escape before crews arrived on scene.
When firefighters arrived on scene mutual aid was requested immediately as it was a second alarm fire with structural damage.
Newport and Portsmouth assisted in putting out the fire which took roughly 45-minutes.
The home sustained substantial fire, smoke and water damage, it is unclear whether or not the home will be considered a total lost.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
