A diocese in Florida is now looking into the former headmaster of St. George’s prep school following a sexual abuse investigation.

The Florida diocese began digging into his past earlier this year after learning that Reverend George E. Andrews failed report sexual abuse by a choirmaster to authorities when he led the school in the 1980s.

Andrews’ lawyer says he was relying on the advice of school lawyers and did not know at the time the scale of the abuse. Fourteen people have now accused the choirmaster of abuse.

But a lawyer for victims of the abuse says Andrews had a moral obligation to report the abuse.

Today the former headmaster operates a consulting firm placing chaplains at other schools and allegedly gave one of the teachers accused of abuse a positive recommendation.
