PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) _ Federal prosecutors in Rhode Island say a Florida man stole the identities of people, and used the information to apply for ATM cards, which he then used to fraudulently withdraw money from their bank accounts.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Rhode Island says 47-year-old Stacy Moore, of Miami Beach, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Tuesday of 18 counts including bank fraud, aggravated identity theft, and mail theft.

Authorities say from December until February, Moore withdrew a total of almost $27,000 from at least six people’s bank accounts in Rhode Island and Massachusetts with the use of replacement debit cards.

Prosecutors say Moore was arrested after stealing mail from an East Greenwich home while wearing a U.S. Postal Service shirt.

A message was left with his public defender.
