Florida school principal hits 6-year-old girl with paddle in front of girl’s mom
A school principal in Florida is under investigation after hitting a 6-year-old girl with a paddle in front of the girl’s mother.
The whole thing was caught on camera.
The principal has been identified as Melissa Carter.
She claims that she hit the little girl because she scratched a school computer.
The incident happened in April.
According to her attorney, the girl’s mother had offered to come to the school to pay for the damage.
“They have fears of deportation,” Brent Probinsky, the Family’s lawyer said. “The other part of it was that she didn’t know what the principal was allowed to do.”
Corporal punishment is legal in Florida but it’s not allowed in that school district.
The State’s Attorney along with the Department of Children and Families is are investigating the incident.
