Former Boy Scout staff member accused of molesting boy at RI camp in 1986

Rockville, RI (WLNE) – A former Boy Scout camp staff member is charged with sexually assaulting a boy back in 1986.

The Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office announced 58-year-old Richard McGrath of Charlton, Massachusetts is charged with one count of second-degree child molestation. A grand jury returned the indictment on November 3.

The indictment says McGrath sexually assaulted a boy when McGrath was a staff member at the Yawgoog Scout Reservation in Rockville. The reservation is operated by the Boy Scouts of America.

McGrath was arraigned today in Washington County Superior Court. His bail was set at $5,000 personal recognizance. As a condition of his bail, he cannot contact the alleged victim.
