Former Central Falls mayor to be honored as a portrait in City Hall
CENTRAL FALLS, R.I (WLNE) – The City of Central Falls is looking to raise funds to honor former Central Falls Mayor James Diossa with a City Hall portrait, commemorating his eight years of service.
Centrals Falls formed a committee and partnered with Progreso Latino to serve as the fiscal agent in the fundraising effort.
“Mayor Diossa was transformative for the City of Central Falls,” said Mayor Diossa Portrait Committee Chair Joshua Giraldo, who served as Chief of Staff during the Diossa administration.
“From bringing our City out of bankruptcy, to ethics reform, to building affordable housing, to reviving our main streets, and restoring a sense of civic pride in our residents, Mayor Diossa will be remembered as a humble leader who truly made Central Falls the Comeback City. We’re proud to be raising funds to help honor his legacy with the first mayoral portrait to be hung in City Hall”, he continued.
The Committee selected local artist Dino Ramos to paint the official portrait.
An unveiling at City Hall is anticipated for the end of May.
