Former New England Patriots quarterback dies at 35
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WLNE) — Former New England Patriots quarterback Ryan Mallett has died. He was 35.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office in Florida said Mallet died at a hospital after apparently drowning at a beach in Destin.
The sheriff’s office said a group of people in the water near the second sandbar were reportedly struggling to make their way back to shore.
Mallet, authorities said, went under and lifeguards said he wasn’t breathing when he was pulled out.
The Patriots took to social media sharing their condolences with Mallett’s family.
The New England Patriots are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden and unexpected passing of former quarterback Ryan Mallett.

Bill Belichick also shared his condolences upon hearing of Mallett’s passing saying, “I am extremely saddened by Ryan’s tragic passing. My thoughts are with his family and the many people whose lives he touched.”
Mallett was born on June 5, 1988, in Arkansas, and played at the University of Michigan before transferring to Arkansas, where he played two seasons with the Razorbacks.
