Former Pro Hockey Player from Rhode Island Charged with Sexual Assault

PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – Former professional hockey player John “Clark” Donatelli, known as Clark, is charged with four counts of sexual assault.

A statewide grand jury returned the four-count indictment against Donatelli. He is accused of sexually assaulting a 46-year-old woman. The indictment says the assault happened in Providence on November 1, 2018.

Donatelli was arraigned on November 10 in Providence County Superior Court. Bail was set at $10,000 personal recognizance. As a condition of his bail, he cannot contact the alleged victim.

His next hearing is set for December 15 in Providence County Superior Court. It will be a pre-trial conference.

Donatelli formerly coached the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins minor league hockey team. . Donatelli played in the NHL with the Minnesota North Stars and briefly with the Boston Bruins. He also once played in the International Hockey League and the American Hockey League. In college, he played for Boston University.

Donatelli was born in Providence and lives in South Kingstown.
