A 5.4 magnitude earthquake in Peru killed four people including an American tourist and injuring 52 in a remote Andean part of the country.

The quake, close to 10 p.m. local time, on Sunday toppled adobe homes and damaged buildings.

A 65-year-old American tourist died after part of his hotel ceiling collapsed on him.

Peru’s last major earthquake occurred in 2007 when a 7.9 magnitude earthquake killed 600 people.
