Fall River Mayor William Flanagan made a big announcement on his facebook and Twitter page Wednesday night.

Flanagan states that Foxwoods resort and casino purchased 30-acres of land in the South end of the City.

He goes on to mention that a casino will be built in Fall River creating thousands of job for residents which will then generate millions of dollars in revenue for public safety and education.

In late January the Mayor Flanagan was joined by the Foxwoods President and CEO at a press conference to announce that they were entering the states casino competition.

During the press conference Mayor Flanagan clearly stated that it was about the economic development, about the jobs and additional revenue for the city of Fall River.

The Fall River herald news reports that a special city election will be scheduled sometime in late May or early June.
