Freelance Newscast Producer

WLNE-TV ABC 6, the ABC affiliate in Providence, Rhode Island, is looking for a creative and collaborative freelance Newscast Producer! The ideal candidate will be a strong writer, who takes ownership of their newscast and understands relevant news coverage and viewer benefit. The producer will coordinate with the rest of the news team to create the highest quality newscast and to present that content in creative ways.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce newscast that fulfills station brand and promise to the audience
  • Write newscast scripts
  • Work with other producers on “showcasing” of newscast elements
  • Post digital content
  • Collaborate with Assignment Editors, Producers and Reporters on breaking news coverage
  • Fill-in produce additional newscasts as needed
  • Work with news managers to achieve goals

Basic Qualifications:

  • Local TV newscast producing experience preferred
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Solid news judgement
  • Excellent communication skills

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or related field
