FALL RIVER, MA – A statement to the Fall River Office of Economic Development Board obtained by ABC6 News Thursday details shocking accusations against Mayor Jasiel Correia.

The board president, Frank Marchione said the executive board was tipped off about an ongoing investigation within the city by the FBI and The Federal Office of Housing and Urban Development known as HUD.

The investigation focuses on SnoOwl, the Mayor Correia’s former business, and on HUD directed funds for a business grant, as well as the city’s branding campaign.

Marchione says the mayor believes FROED tipped off the FBI and as a result, Correia is retaliating against them. The letter states that Mayor Correia is trying to take away FROED funding and to terminate the office all together.

Marchione is taking legal action for protection hiring Partridge Snow & Hahn law firm.

ABC6 News went to Mayor Correia’s office Thursday afternoon but he had no comment about the allegations. However, he did deny the claims on radio with WSAR around noon.

City councilor, Cliff Ponte said in part, in a statement to ABC6 News:

“This news is very concerning on a magnitude of levels. However there are two sides of the story."
