Furniture that was meant to be donated to needy people was stolen over the weekend from Regal House Furniture in New Bedford.

Business owner Deborah Holden said the furniture was stolen sometime during the overnight hours between Friday and Saturday.

The furniture, including a sofa, a sectional, a cocktail table, and an accent chest, was taken from inside a storage container outside the building. According to Holden, the thieves broke a padlock off the unit to gain entry.

She said the container was use to store items that were going to be donated to charity for needy families. This particular load of items was set to be donated to the Breaking the Chain Ministry.

Currently the police have no suspects.
