PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A natural gas leak in downtown Providence Thursday morning shutdown roads as utility crews work to clean up.

This all started as Cardi Corporation was doing some road work this morning when they hit a gas main.

One building was forced to evacuate strictly to make sure the area was safe.

People were allowed to reenter the building within an hour.

National Grid tells ABC6 that the area is safe and there’s no danger to the public.

They expect everything to be back to normal sometime during the day on Thursday.
