Gov. Baker expected to make an announcement on updated mask guidance for Massachusetts in the coming days

BOSTON (WLNE) – Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker is reviewing the state’s mask guidance and is expected to announce updated guidance in the coming days.

On Tuesday, the CDC updated its guidance to recommend all individuals even those who are fully vaccinated to mask up while indoors.

The shift by the CDC comes after new data showing that those vaccinated can still pass on the new Delta Variant.

Right now, Barnstable County is the only area of high transmission.

Although four counties, including Bristol County have reached the ‘Substantial Transmission Rate’ level.

Gov. Baker says he is considering re-instituting an indoor mask mandate for K-12 schools  for students, teachers, and staff this fall.

He said he doesn’t intend to reinstate travel restrictions.
