Gov. Dan McKee announces the 10 finalists for the RI Lt. Gov. Position

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Gov. Dan McKee released a list of the 10 finalists in the running for the vacant Lt. Gov. position on Thursday.
The final selection is set to happen within the next month.
Gov. McKee’s shortlist is made up with current and former elected officials, as well as two community members who are active in politics and government.

- John Partridge
- Senator Lou DiPalma
- James Diossa
- Elizabeth Beretta-Perik
- Rep. Anastasia Williams
- Councilwoman Sabina Matos
- Rep. Grace Diaz
- Joanne Giannini
- Rep. Bob Phillips
The 10 finalists will be personally interviewed by Gov. McKee, who was the former Lt. Gov. before taking his new job.
There were initially 60 applicants interviewed for the position.
McKee will make his final choice within the next 30 day. The nominee will have to be confirmed by the state Senate. If the candidate is approved, they’ll serve until the end of McKee’s term in 2022.
