Gov. McKee and RIDOH announce new outdoor mask guidance

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Governor Dan McKee and the Rhode Island Department of Health announced new mask guidance going into effect Wednesday.

Vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals will no longer be required to wear masks in outdoor settings.

Those who are unvaccinated are still strongly encouraged to wear masks in crowded outdoor settings and any situation that involves sustained close contact with others who are not fully vaccinated.

Anyone can still be asked to wear a mask by a venue or organization.

There is no change to indoor mask guidance.
