Gov. McKee and RIPTA announce free rides to vaccination sites

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Gov. Dan McKee and RIPTA announced on Thursday that the state’s public transit system will begin offering free rides to vaccination sites starting Monday.

The governor is excited about the new transit plan. “This is a big win for Rhode Island’s vaccination efforts,” he said.

“Many of our State’s vaccination sites are already accessible by RIPTA bus service. I hope that no-cost trips will enable everyone who wants to get to a vaccine clinic to get there easily.” Gov. McKee continued.

New passengers looking to find the right route for their trip are encouraged to visit the RIPTA website.

Passengers looking for free travel can contact RIPTA’s customer service team at 401-781-9400, or at CustomerService@RIPTA.com.

Upon doing so, they’ll be required to provide information regarding their vaccination appointment.
