PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Gov. Dan McKee is scheduled to have a news conference Tuesday to announce a collaboration with superintendents to identify potential school safety issues.

The governor will be joined by Rhode Island State Police Superintendent Col. Darnell Weaver and Rhode Island Department of Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green.

The announcement comes less than a week after the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that left 19 students dead.

Law enforcement in Uvalde have been criticized over their response and handling of the shooting.
