PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Governor Gina Raimondo has officially signed the state budget previously passed by the General Assembly.
Raimondo’s staff said in a press release Friday that the Governor had officially signed the 2020 budget into effect.
The $9.9 billion spending plan calls for six new medical marijuana dispensaries and the expansion of universal Pre-K, but leaves out the Governor’s plan to expand the state’s free college tuition program.
The budget was passed by the General Assembly last week.
If Raimondo didn’t sign it by Saturday night, the budget would have become law without her signature.
