PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A grand jury indicted a former Catholic Priest accused of sexually assaulting a boy between 1981 and 1982.

Kevin Fisette, 66, is facing one count of first-degree sexual assault.

The assault happened in Burrillville between January 1, 1981, and December 31, 1982, according to the Rhode Island Attorney General’s Office.

Fisette was ordained as a priest on November 21, 1981. He was removed from the Diocese of Providence back in 2009, but he has not been laicized, or dismissed from the clerical state, by the Catholic Church.

In a statement, the diocese said they “informed, cooperated with, and worked closely with Rhode Island State Police and the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office, proactively and promptly sharing the complaint and all
relevant information and files.”

Fissette will be arraigned in Providence County Superior Court on Wednesday.
