Grebien Wins Primary, Nearly Certain to be Next Mayor of Pawtucket

Donald Grebien secured the Democratic nomination for Mayor of Pawtucket last night, virtually assuring that he'll be elected Mayor in November as there is no other candidate running.

Grebien defeated Henry Kinch 64% to 37%.

Mayor James Doyle, who has occupied the office for six terms, stepped down earlier in the year.

Grebien served on the Pawtucket City Council before stepping down to challenge Doyle in 2008, but he came up about 2000 votes short.  Kinch, son of a former mayor of the city, is a two-term city council member and has been council president since 2009.
