Guatemalan Community Wants Apology from State Rep.

Rhode Island's Guatemalan community is seeking an apology after comments made by State Representative Bob Watson.

At a recent legislative luncheon, Watson criticized what he saw as misplaced legislative priorities by saying “I guess that if you are a Guatemalan gay man who likes to gamble and smokes marijuana, you probably think we're onto some good ideas here.”

Guatemalans and immigrants' rights groups took offense to the comments, saying that somebody who represents the public should not have uttered something so callous.
