Harborside Inn to be demolished starting week of Sept. 11, town says

NEW SHOREHAM, R.I. (WLNE) –The Town of New Shoreham announced Wednesday that the remains of the Harborside Inn that caught fire over the weekend will be torn down starting in September.
According to the town, the demolition company working met with town officials and the owners of the Harborside Inn Wednesday and determined the demo process will start the week of September 11. The construction company said the project will be finished in five days.
“Dealing with these challenges has involved an incredibly dedicated team, and we thank everyone who has given their time and expertise. This process is not without its challenges, and we thank the community for the patience they have shown,” the town said in a statement.
Perimeter fencing will be placed around the demolition zone and police shared the following advisories for traffic in that area:
- Once Water Street is open, there will be no parking on the west side of the street in the area of the Harborside Inn, the Chief of Police will make the determination and post signs
- No parking will continue on Weldon’s Way
- Chapel Street will continue to be closed from Weldon’s Way to Water Street.
Water and Dodge Streets will also be reopened as of Thursday, Aug. 24, at 7 a.m., police said.
