Harborside Inn to be torn down after large fire
According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, when the inn will be torn down has yet to be determined and will be decided by local officials.
Gov. Dan McKee said he’s working with the state’s Small Business Administration to help businesses impacted by the blaze.
No injuries were reported and the Block Island School is being used as an emergency shelter to house about 60 displaced hotel guests.
Ferry service into the island resumed Sunday morning.
Also on Monday, Lt. Gov. Sabina Matos and the Rhode Island Commerce visited the island to assess the damage of the fire.
Today, @SBA_RhodeIsland, @CommerceRI and I toured the damage left behind by the Harborside Inn fire. We are working with local businesses to get them the resources they need after this horrible event. I want to thank first responders for acting quickly and keeping everyone safe. pic.twitter.com/npTvJSJYLU
