PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Two of the nation’s leading children’s hospitals are joining forces in an effort to enhance pediatric care in southern New England.

Hasbro and Boston Children’s Hospitals announced a new partnership Friday aimed at ensuring that all patients get the care they need in the right setting.

The institutions hope to collaborate on critical child and adolescent needs, treating patients as close to home whenever possible.

“Kids who come to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, the vast majority can be treated here within Hasbro,” said Lifespan CEO Timothy Babineau, “but occasionally they do have to go up to Boston and come back.”

“It’s really about enhancing the clinical care for the kids we take care of”, said Babineau.

Hospital officials say the partnership will ensure patients have access to the most cutting-edge treatments.
