UPDATE: According the Boston Public Heath Commission, the patients who arrived on Flight #237 do not meet the criteria for any infections of public health concern, including Ebola, MERS, or meningococcal infection.

Emergency crews in hazmat gear surrounded a plane at Boston Logan airport Monday afternoon after reports of sick passengers on an international flight.

Emergency and medical crews boarded the flight and removed five passengers who were complaining of flu-like symptoms. Those passengers have been transported to area hospitals.

The Emirates flight 237 arrived from Dubai late this afternoon. Passengers were forced to wait on the plane for hours as crews removed the ill passengers.  ABC 6 News has learned the sick passengers are from Saudi Arabia and have not been to West Africa.

Still officials are not taking any chances. They suited up and followed the established protocol to stop the spread of Ebola.
