Health officials announce recall for frozen fruit products sold in Rhode Island, Massachusetts stores

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health announced Thursday that a recall has been issued for frozen fruit due to a Listeria risk.
Health officials said Sunrise Growers, Inc. is recalling products linked to pineapple from a third-party supplier that may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The products included in the recall were sold at the following stores:
- Walmart: Great Value Mixed Fruit, Great Value Dark Sweet Cherries, and Great Value Mango Chunks sold at stores including Massachusetts from January 19 to June 13.
- Whole Foods: 365 Organic Tropical Fruit Medley, 365 Organic Pineapple Chunks, 365 Pineapple Chunks, 365 Organic Whole Strawberries, 365 Organic Slice Strawberries and Bananas, and 365 Organic Blackberries distributed to select stores throughout the country from November 1, 2022 to June 21, 2023.
- Trader Joe’s: Trader Joe’s Organic Tropical Fruit Blend distributed to select distribution centers or stores including Rhode Island and Massachusetts from March 28 to April 11.
- Target: Good & Gather Organic Cherries and Berries Fruit Blend, Good & Gather Dark Sweet Whole Pitted Cherries, Good & Gather Mango Strawberry Blend, Good & Gather Mixed Fruit Blend, Good & Gather Mango Chunks, Good & Gather Blueberries, and Good & Gather Triple Berry Blend distributed nationwide from October 14, 2022 to May 22, 2023.
- Aldi: Season’s Choice Tropical Blend distributed to select distribution centers or stores including Rhode Island and Massachusetts from October 11, 2022 to May 22, 2023.
- Associated Wholesale Grocers: Best Choice Pitted Red Tart Cherries Unsweetened distributed to select distribution centers or stores from April 5 to May 4.
Anyone who has these products should throw them away or return them to where they bought them.
Health officials said the bacteria can cause listeriosis, a potentially serious infection that mainly affects older adults, pregnant women and babies, and people with weakened immune systems.
They said so far, there have been no reported illnesses in connection to the recalled fruit.
Anyone who has eaten any of the products and develops any flu-like or gastrointestinal symptoms should call their healthcare provider.
