Southern New England braces for New Years’ Snowfall

By News Staff

BOSTON (AP) – Limber up and get those snow shovels ready for action.

The National Weather Service says a storm will dump several inches of snow on much of Southern New England on Saturday afternoon and evening.

The weather system will bring about four to eight inches of snow to eastern and south central Massachusetts, Rhode Island and northeastern Connecticut.

More snowfall is possible in northern Rhode Island and in Norfolk, Plymouth and Bristol counties in Massachusetts, National Weather Service meteorologist Allan Dunham says.

A winter storm warning will kick off at noon Saturday and last until 7 a.m. Sunday.

The National Weather Service says the snow should start falling early Saturday afternoon, with highest snowfall happening away from the coast.
