High school student stabbed in fight with other students

A Providence high school student was stabbed after school on Wednesday after an altercation with two other students.

Police say that a 16-year-old was stabbed around 3 p.m. on Thurbers Avenue after the three students had gotten out of school.

The student who was stabbed was brought to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Another student was arrested and police continue to look for the third student involved.

Providence School Department issued the following statement, “We will work closely with Providence Police to determine the exact nature of this fight and of any student involvement, and will proceed accordingly with appropriate criminal or school-based sanctions for the students involved.”
