WOONSOCKET – A high-speed chase took Woonsocket cops across state lines into Massachusetts Saturday afternoon, before arresting two people.

The ten-minute long chase started around 2:15 p.m. in Woonsocket before heading up Route 146 North in Uxbridge, according to Woonsocket Police Lieutenant Edward Doura. The two fugitives are being held at Uxbridge Police Headquarters due to a jurisdiction issue.

Eyewitness Michael Mogayzel told ABC6 News he was in the area when he saw an SUV traveling upwards of 80 miles an hour.

“[The SUV] was right behind me,” he said. “I tried to get out of his way cause I thought he was going to hit me, but then he had enough time to just maneuver around me and the car in front of me.”

Around that time, Mogayzel heard sirens and saw about five police cars.

Doura said cops eventually pulled over the vehicle near Exit 2 in Uxbridge, and arrested the driver and passenger without incident.

“They drew their guns and the driver got out,” said Mogayzel.

Woonsocket Police are investigating if this incident is linked to another case. The names of the suspects and the nature of their charges have not been released.
