PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The historic church in Providence is replacing a set of steps after a car crashed into them Saturday morning.

One of the oldest churches in the country, the original steps on the Thomas Street side, dated back to 1775.

Authorities say they will not know the condition of the driver until a police report is made available.
Even with the damage, the church will be open on Sunday at 11 a.m., with all other entrances open.

If interested in making donations to help with repairs, head to the church’s website, here, with the donate button being on the bottom of the page.
