Home damaged, two firefighters injured in Providence house fire

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- A home suffered extensive damage and two firefighters were injured on Tuesday morning, as a result of a house fire in Providence.

Providence fire chief Kevin Dolan told ABC6 that the fire started on the first floor of the River Avenue home and spread to the second floor.

Crews were able to put out the fire quickly, but two firefighters suffered minor injuries in the process. Both firefighters declined medical treatment.

No residents were home at the time of the fire.

The Red Cross has been assigned to assist the family further.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
