HVAC Companies Busy Ahead of Weekend Heat

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) — With a potential heat wave expected to hit New England this weekend, it’s important to keep homes cool, especially if you have kids, pets, or live with the elderly.

HVAC companies across the region have been flooded with calls from people looking to get their A/C serviced before the weekend heat.

According to professionals with GEM Heating and Plumbing of Lincoln, some of the most common problems people experience with their A/C in the summer months, are clogged filters and dead batteries in the thermostat.

Other simple solutions to try before calling the professionals: make sure leaves and branches are free from your system’s condenser, and make sure your system’s condensate drain is working properly, not pooling water.

Experts also recommend leaving you thermostat at 73 degrees, so your system doesn’t over work.
