Iconic Freetown rock formation collapses

FREETOWN, Mass. (WLNE) – A historic Freetown rock formation resembling a person’s face has collapsed, police said.

Police responded to the park at Freetown State Forest for reports of recent damages to the Old Man of Joshua’s Mountain formation, nicknamed “Profile Rock”, around 9:22 a.m. Wednesday.

First responders and park officials discovered that a large portion of the formation had broken off and fallen.

Due to unsafe conditions, the park is closed until further notice. The public is encouraged to stay clear of the area.
