Icy travel expected tonight
The National Weather Service is continuing the WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for Providence and Kent counties through 4 am Friday. We’ll see freezing rain and freezing drizzle by evening through about midnight. If you commute to the north, be aware that travel conditions will become more treacherous especially north of the MA Pike where freezing drizzle and sleet have been ongoing.
We’ll get a break in the steady precipitation today as we await the last pulse of moisture late this evening. Expect icy travel this evening into the Friday morning commute.
Friday the wind brings in colder air as an arctic high pressure system builds in to deliver a very cold Saturday!
Sunday night may feature some snow showers moving through but our focus is for next Monday-Tuesday when a significant winter storm could impact southern New England with snow.
