CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Corrections said Wednesday that their investigation into an incident that caused a large emergency response and lockdown at the Adult Correctional Institution continued with a contraband search.

Officials said the ACI was on partial-lockdown Wednesday afternoon as corrections officers searched the Maximum Security facility for any contraband in connection to the incident last Friday.

On Monday, the DOC announced that it identified several inmates at the ACI as being leaders in an altercation that broke out Friday night, leaving a corrections officer with minor injuries.

That officer has since returned to work, officials said.

Correctional officials said they will continue to interview potential witnesses as the investigation develops.
