2 known to each other found dead with gunshot wounds in Cumberland home, police say

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WLNE) — Police said Wednesday two people were found dead with gunshot wounds inside a Cumberland home.

The shooting happened just before 7 a.m. at a home on Birchwood Drive.

Chief Matthew Benson said that the two people, whose names were not immediately released, knew each other.

Benson said others living in the home were found unharmed inside the home. A neighbor told ABC 6 News that three children lived with two adults in the home.

Police said there is no danger to the community at this time.

“When I came home, I couldn’t imagine what was going on. Police were all over the place and rescue,” said Robert Boynes, a neighbor. “I’ve been here 50 years and it’s always been a nice community.”

No further information was immediately released.
