Jalice Café put on probation, shut down temperately

A New Bedford bar where 7 people were shot last month received its punishment from the city’s board of licensing Monday night.

The Jalice Café will be shut-down for 14 days, 7 of those suspended, and was given one year of probation.

In a second vote the board ruled the bars last call at 11:30 p.m. with everyone out by midnight for a year and 18-month probation.

The bar on Acushnet Avenue was the scene of a shooting August 2^nd when a party got out of hand and 7 people were shot.

Despite that incident, the bar was allowed to temporarily re-open under strict guidelines.
