Jayden Struble’s #16 Huskies Shut Out #13 Friars

Devon Levi made 37 saves as No. 16 Northeastern blanked the No. 13 Providence College men’s hockey team, 2-0, on Friday night (Dec. 3) at Schneider Arena.

-Providence skated man-up for five minutes in the opening period after Aidan McDonough earned a five-minute major and game misconduct at 12:38 for contact to the head. The Friars were unable to capitalize on the man-up opportunity.
-Northeastern’s Gunnarwolfe Fontaine put the Huskies on the board in the final 54 seconds of the first period, carrying a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
-The Huskies maintained their one-goal lead in the second, as both teams skated through the period scoreless.
-The Friars had a late power play searching for the equalizer and pulled Stauber for the extra attacker at the tail-end of the power play but NU’s Matt Choupani sealed the game into the empty net at 18:41.
-Stauber stopped 32 of 33 shots faced in net tonight for a .970 save percentage.
-The Friars outshot the Huskies, 37-34.
-Providence’s six-game winning streak was snapped with the loss on Friday.
