Johnson & Wales announces COVID-19 vaccination requirement for faculty and staff

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – Johnson & Wales University announced that all faculty and staff are required to be fully vaccinated for the coming semester on Thursday.

According to the university, faculty and staff must have received at least one dose of the vaccine by August 30th, which is the first day of classes.

Also, they must have received all manufacturer-recommended doses of the vaccine by September 30th.

“Since the start of the pandemic, the university has acted in accordance with public health and government guidance as we have prioritized the health and wellbeing of the Johnson & Wales community,” said JWU Providence Campus President Marie Bernardo-Sousa, LP.D.

“This summer, there has been growing concern about the rapid spread of the Delta variant, the emergence of additional variants, and breakthrough cases of people who are fully vaccinated but test positive for COVID-19. We look forward to more normal times for the fall 2021 semester as the JWU community and those around us become fully vaccinated”, she continued.

Johnson & Wales announced that students are required to be fully vaccinated back in May.

Exemptions for medical, religious, or other reasons can be requested.
