PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A Johnson & Wales residence hall was placed on lockdown after a student’s car was found in a campus parking garage with two guns and bullet holes early Saturday morning.

A spokesperson for the university said The Cove dormitory was placed on a temporary lockdown.

According to the spokesperson, an investigation revealed that the student had been involved in “an altercation at a location off-campus and sustained a minor head injury.”

Both Providence Police and JWU CS&S searched the entire building to ensure it’s safety before the lockdown was lifted.

The student involved is facing criminal weapons charges by Providence Police, and has been placed on interim suspension by the university.

Providence Police and the JWU CS&S are investigating the incident.
