Johnson & Wales University to require booster shots for Spring semester

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- Johnson & Wales University has announced they will be requiring the COVID-19 booster shot for all eligible students, staff, and faculty who do not have a health exemption.

“Since the start of the pandemic, the university has followed public health and government guidance as we have prioritized the health and wellbeing of the Johnson & Wales community,” said JWU Providence Campus President Marie Bernardo-Sousa LP.D.  “As concerns remain surrounding the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, booster shots are a vital part of our ongoing effort to create a safe and healthy campus environment for all. Together, we will continue that effort and look forward to returning for a strong and successful spring semester.”

The deadline for those eligible to receive the vaccine will be March 1, but the University is heavily encouraging those who are eligible to receive their booster before the start of the Spring semester in January.

Johnson & Wales will also be hosting a COVID-19 vaccination clinic on on January 11, and January 13, in the Delaney Gym at the Harborside Wildcat Center for students, staff, or faculty members.
