A Johnston firefighter was arrested Saturday night for DUI after a crash in Glocester.

Glocester Police arrived to the two-car crash on Putnam Pike late Saturday night.

Investigation shows that one car with three people inside was driving down Putnam Pike when it was hit by another car going the opposite direction that crossed over the center lane.

The three occupants of the first car were sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle, 46-year-old Michael Calise of Glocester, was uninjured.

Crews found several cans of unopened beer cans inside Calise’s vehicle. They say he seemed drunk when they talked to him. He was arrested and brought to police headquarters, where he refused to submit to a chemical test.

Calise, a full time Johnston firefighter, was charged with DUI and refusal to submit. He was released on $1,000 personal recognizance and will be back in court Tuesday.
