Johnston mayor gives first look of town’s Amazon facility

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) — Residents got a first look inside the need Amazon distribution center that is set to open in Johnston.
Mayor Joe Polisena Jr. posted several images inside the facility that is being constructed off of Route 6 in Johnston during a tour last week with U.S. Sen. Jack Reed.
Polisena touted the more than 1,000 construction jobs, more than 1,000 full-time jobs, and the more than $100 million of tax revenue the town will see over the next 20 years.
Amazon will also be funding road improvement and a new Rhode Island Public Transit Authority route for the area.
The four-million square-foot facility was approved by the town council in 2021. The plant is expected to open its doors this year.
