Joint Committee on Legislative Services meet for 1st time since 2011

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Joint Committee on Legislative Services met Wednesday for the first time since March of 2011.
The meeting comes on the heels of former House Minority Leader Blake Filippi’s lawsuit against former Speaker Nick Mattiello in 2020, claiming he ordered an audit of the Rhode Island Convention Center without calling for a public meeting of the Joint Committee on Legislative Services, which Filippi contended was against protocol.
The lawsuit was dismissed earlier this year after both sides came to an agreement.
The Joint Committee on Legislative Services is the “spending arm” of the legislature.
