BOSTON, Mass (WLNE) – A hearing in the fraud case of Fall River Mayor Jasiel Correia was canceled Thursday morning after the Judge overseeing the case recused herself.

U.S. Magistrate M. Page Kelley announced in a statement Thursday that she was recusing herself from the case, citing a legal code stating “any justice, judge, or magistrate judge of the United States shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned.”

Correia is being charged with 13 counts of wire and tax fraud. Prosecutors allege he defrauded investors in a mobile app called SnoOwl, developed by Correia.
